Most of my life hasn't been very fun, my childhood wasn't very happy and it left me with a lot of hidden scars. Can you imagine a child, barely a teenager, already giving up on her life because it was too horrid for her?
That's how my life was and the thoughts of it still haunt me..But this photo shows you my light at the end of the dark tunnel, how cliché that might sound..This photo gives me hope and courage, it shows me how strong I was as a child. I know I can make it.
Nice, especially in combination with the description...how sad it may be. You've captured the feeling you described very well in the photo.
Reminds me a bit of a song (yeah I'm stupid that way) by Therapy, called "30 seconds"...the keep on repeating "There is a light at the end of the tunnel" at the end of the song. So indirectly, this shot reminds me of that song.
Very nice shot. And good to hear that you've got such a positive attitude.

This photo is charged with emotions. Although the path is rough and the surroundings creepy, there's that light in the end, the glowing hope that makes you stick to the life.
I like how the photo is disymmetric (sorry if it's spelled wrong).
Your description enlightens the viewing. Without it it would have been different I think.
Great metaphorical photography!
I love it, your description is touching and i just want to tell you to never give it up ...fallow that light and Life will smile for you...one day... hope is all we have!

It is in parts troubling and sanguine. Below seems to be dark waters, and the pathway leading towards the light seems temporary and hastily assembled - it serves a purpose, but the journey wont be pretty or comfortable. Then again, the light is bright, clear and relatively close and the stark contrast of the piece suggests determination and resilience.
A precient piece that is very expressive of the description.
Just remember to smile, kiddo

Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.

Distance in perspective represents travel, and the bright light at the end of the passage constitutes change or rather a longing for a change.
Hope.
Well past experience are history, and histories are lessons to be learned. You can't deny the past but you can shape your future.
Anyways, great photography again but where was it taken? It looks like some state prison...
